New insights in violence against women in Nepal
Statistics shows huge increase in cases of Violence Against Women here in Nepal. Despite the hundreds of National level organization and international level organization working in the field the number of VAW cases have increased tremendously.
According to data this months Bhadra from August to September around 53 cases of rape and eight cases of attempted rape case from across the country was recorded.
Similarly around 99 cases were registered under the domestic violence against women, including physical and mental torture, verbal abuse, assault and eviction from house.
Incidents reported (mid-Aug to mid-Sept)
• Rape: 53
• Rape attempts: 8
• Sexual violence: 8
• Domestic violence: 99
• Social offences: 27
• Murder: 13
• Attempt to murder: 5
• Human trafficking: 2
