Minister's sexist opinion corners him

The  Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Sher Bahadur Tamang has been hugely criticized for his public comment expressing his sexist view on medical student of Bangladesh.

During a felicitation program of SEE graduates at Chabhil-based Praxis Int’l Academy, Minister Tamang had said that most of the Nepali female students have to sell themselves to obtain MBBS degree in Bangladesh.

With the profile and image the ministers sexist comment with no grounds shows the level of political culture and practice in Nepal. Nepal has been hugely dominated by the patriarchy society and derogatory and sexist remarks coming out of ministers is certainly not acceptable.

The comment has created a ripple in social media platform about the political culture and way political leaders use such unauthenticated statement.

Though the minister has publicly apologized but the question of his sexist mentality has  raised question about the gender gap.
