Women abused cases are in rise in Terai Region

In yet another case of violence against women  two women, Puja Thakur, 25, of Indrapur VDC-9 and Hem Kumari Dhobi, 25, of Karkando VDC-9 were critically burnt by their husbands. Both the women were set on fire by their husband under the influence of alcohol at around 8:00 pm yesterday.

According to the Nepal Police,"  Puja’s husband Paban Thakur  had set her on fire after putting kerosene on her body. The fire was put out by her brother-in-law. Following the incident, the family members had hidden Puja inside the room to hide the incident. Likewise, Hem Kumari’s husband Gaya Prasad Dhobi had tried to burn her alive. Hem’s neighbours had rescued her after she cried for help following the incident yesterday. "

Both the victim were rushed to hospital where half of Puja’s body has been burnt in the incident and Almost 90 per cent of Hem’s body has been burnt and her health condition is in danger.
