Rape Victim in Nepal faces job eviction after reporting the case in Court

A woman who was raped on November 23  in Dhading for not voting to a Nepali Congress in the general election of Contsitution Assembly  held on November 19, 2013 has been evicted from her job. She was raped by  her own relative Sanjeev Simkhada reasoning  to act against his party.  Simkhada is the cadre of the Nepali Congress and  currently he is on  run after a charge-sheet was lodged in the district court against him.

To make matters worse, she has been sacked from her job after filing the case at the local police station. Her job as a peon at the local school  was terminated on march 23 2014,  when she approached the court to seek justice against the rapist. She is currently survived by two children and 75-year-old mother-in-law where she is in a state of fury.

This is just an example of one of the cases that shows how politics influences and protects criminals. Especially in rural village women are on the verge of being exploited and harassed  due to various reasons. 90% of such cases are shadowed due to social pride and prestige. Though a lot of NGOs and INGOs  are working in the field of raising awareness about women's issues and their rights, but when it comes to real grounds the cases and their reports are just limited to 5 star hotels conferences and seminars. I guess only a handful number of cases get noticed and  assistance.

Lack of infrastructure and resources makes them vulnerable to such exploitating factor where they have no idea about women's rights. To be precises  these women lack the basic  knowledge and education and if they are aware of their rights also they are furthermore pressured by variable forces of society, politics, law etc. that they have no option except to either quit or to keep silent.

"To be a woman in the rural is not an easy job we go through a lot of hardship and compliance, women are tested and pressured in every phase of their life. It's a way that cannot be visualized, but on practical grounds its not an easy job to be independent and talk about your pain and what you have gone through. The society further slashes you and the people do not sympathize they keep their eyes close to further prey on you in every possible way where in every stance you are a test subject of pain and fury. From the police to the doctors to the family, its just a traumatic experience where rape is just a pain that heals, but it's scare leaves behind a  pain that lives on to the flesh and wound of endless  suffering, said a victim "

So what do you expect our Constitution gives right for every woman to live with her will and freedom, but when it comes to ground reality a woman is more vulnerable than any other endangered species that needs protection and care for survival. We may speak about big lousy rights, but ask yourself if you would leave behind your sister or  mother or daughter alone. To be  a man is not just a question of what we prize for but making a point of giving that respect matter more than what we have been fighting for.
